Week 1C: Pre-Construction

Wondering how things have been? Well, over the past few months we've been bidding the job out to various subs and have been crunching numbers in order to see how the budget is holding up. So far so good, but the foundations and grading are way over budget due to the complexity of building on the hill.

We finally decided to "pull the trigger" this week and I ordered the toilet, power pole, and protection fencing. M&M Surveyors are going to be staking the site next week in preparation for the grading. The site has been "grubbed" and all vegetation has been removed.

Prior to beginning construction there are 3 important things to take care of: 1) Site Services and pre-construction preparations. 2) Meet and greet the neighbors and let them know that you are going to be making a lot of noise over the coming months. And 3) Call your inspectors to introduce yourself and let them know what is going on. We are scheduled to officially start moving dirt on Wednesday, April 18th, first thing in the morning. The initial grading should take about 5 days as we have to cut a road down the hill in order to get the drill rig in place. Once that is done we'll be drilling for 5 days and then the grader will remove the road and we'll be set to erect our rebar cages and pour the piles.

After that, it's anyones guess as to how long it will take to finish grading operations, but we are looking to start our main foundations in May.

I'll be updating the site with our sub-contractor list so check back soon.
